Flanders House co-hosted two side events to the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) on sustainable development and implementation of the SDG’s (Sustainable Development Goals).

On Tuesday, July 11th, the Government of Flanders and Regions4 organized an event focusing on the implementation of SDGs and interlinkage of these innovative actions at the subnational level. Experts from Regions4 Member Governments demonstrated initiatives tackling different dimensions of sustainable development. During the expert segment, Unit Manager at VITO/Energyville Flanders Leen Govaerts, Head Advisor of the Department of Environment and Spatial Development Maarten Hens and VVSG president Wim Dries provided examples of Flemish regional innovative projects.

On Thursday, Flanders House together with SEED, hosted an event about eco-inclusive Small Medium Enterprises (SME) and their role in facilitating transformative change for Nature, Climate, Circular- and Agrifood-Systems. High-level representatives from governments, international organisations and private sector discussed how eco-inclusive SMEs can better contribute to the SDGs.

Both events demonstrated the importance of various initiatives on different levels striving to achieve sustainable development in line with the SDG’s.
